10 artists you need to witness live at Vh1 Supersonic

Vh1 Supersonic is a few weeks away and we took the liberty to compile a list of artists you need to witness live. Some of them are visiting India for the first time, some are homegrown talents and some are our all time favourites.

(In no particular order)

Maya Jane Coles

Armed with stellar remixes and outstanding production, this house music ninja will slay you with waves of progression in her beautifully designed sets. It’s her first time in India, so brace yourself for artistic brilliance.

Tuhin Mehta

He possesses the magnetic aura of a techno Don Juan. Many who have heard Tuhin play for the first time, have become instant fans. He will lure you in with delicious dark tunes and before you know it, your limbs will be flailing at the energy emanating from him with a permanently infectious smile on his face.

Arjun Vagale

Arjun’s impeccable skills as a DJ and producer have been revered globally. Known to be charismatically eccentric and fearlessly experimental in the tunes he plays, his passion for underground music must be experienced live!

One half of the acid techno duo DTR, and one of the most prominent artists of the Detroit techno scene, Magda debuts in India for the very first time at Supersonic. Her music is unique in that she continuously experiments and her sets are so versatile that you don’t know what you’re going to expect when you listen to her weave her magic.

Praveen Achary

He’s been prominent on the Indian dance music scene with his love of pure progressive house. As a DJ and a producer he’s worked with the likes of Cid Inc, Dale Middleton, to name a few and his label – Juicebox Music boasts of some of the finest quality progressive music. His sets are unparalleled and you’re lost in a sea of progressive goodness.

Jesse Siminski or Heartthrob is an experimentalist. His music captures the audience with its peak time grooves, which are balanced out perfectly with melodies that completely captivate you. His musical influences come from the early 90’s and he still samples some of it in his productions today. His set will be fuelled with energy, yet will have some unique elements that will leave you mesmerized and lost in a sea of beautiful melodies.

London based future bass and trap producer KAOS is back to the motherland fresh from a stint at the WOW Glacier Love Festival. Expect a heavy bass assault from this 23 year old wonder kid who has already charted immense success with his single ‘Come Alive’ and remixed the likes of Ella Eyre, Naughty Boy and Professor Green.

Eli & Fur

Eli & Fur are much more than your quintessential femme fatales. Just out of art school, this duo from London has some serious aesthetic in sound, boasting a repertoire full of sick deep house productions. They shot into the limelight with the sinfully sensual ‘You’re So High’ and their recent single ‘Seeing is Believing’ (featuring remixes from Davidian and Shadow Child), has garnered massive underground critical appraisal as well.

Carl Craig

Known as a legend amongst techno heads, dancefloor experimentalist and top Detroit techno producer Carl Craig has few equals in terms of the artistry, influence, and diversity of his recordings.

Catalan DJ and producer Coyu has made his mark on Suara music by helping it to become one of the most prominent labels in the world of techno and house music. He reigns in Spain
List compiled by Shilpa Shah, Akanksha Chauhan, Michelle Varghese & Akshay Bhalla
