Review + Stream: Solomun – Zora EP (Diynamic)

by on July 24, 2015

The Hamburg based, Diynamic Music label head and DJ extraordinaire, Solomun brings a 3 track studio EP titled ‘Zora’, which shows off this talented artist’s versatility and technical prowess.

He’s well into his Solomun + LIVE parties at the world famous Pacha, Ibiza and he’s been road-testing the tracks for a while, with extremely positive response. Right off the bat, we’ve got the title track ‘Zora’, which, starts off in a slow burning fashion, gradually building the tension, and injecting higher pitched melodies that are brought together with a strong, dominant bassline, adding a unique element to the track.

Fantazija, track number two has a headier introduction, where the focal point is the rubbery drums, and the melodies take a backseat. The track builds upon itself with spacey and pitchy synths and it’s one of those peak-time tracks that will get the crowd off its feet.

Rounding off this release is ‘Nada’ is a sunset track with guitar riffs and a very lazy vibe. It’s not overtly complicated, but there are lush melodies and gentle touches of synths that add a real emotive feel to the track. Solomun has taken a gentler approach to this one, adding a couple of grittier elements, but they come together beautifully.

Solomun has been on fire lately, and it comes as no surprise that every release that he puts out, is carefully thought through, and there’s a lot of love that goes into his productions, and it shows when one listens to his tracks. This is a summer scorcher for sure, so be ready to hear all three tracks on heavy rotation.
