If you’re looking to find something other than hard hitting peak-time beats, look no further than Flamenca as the first few bars of this track transport you to the sun, sand and sea.

With the Summer well and truly upon us, it is also the time for the big open-air parties, the rooftop sundowners, and of course the big summer festivals. AS ou make your way to your events of choice, you’ll hear some new tracks, created especially for the summer, and some just waiting to be road-tested. In the midst of all the fervour, you’ll also be able to catch a few smaller shows/events where the music seems to take you on a journey of laidback grooves, gearing you up for a night of heavy partying. You’ll end up listening to lazier, summery sets, that are just about right for the hot sunny afternoons.

Enter Vince Watson, the Scotsman who’s already been receiving accolades for adding a touch of Balearic infused sounds to each of his productions, and they’ve so far landed him releases on Ovum, Cocoon & Planet E. His latest offering, comes in the form of Flamenca, which is one of those tracks that are perfect for the early afternoon beachside affairs. While I’m listening to this track, I feel like I’ve been taken to Ibiza, away from the hustle and bustle of city life, and onto the sunny beaches.

There’s beautiful Balearic elements that have been put together with a rhythmic percussion and tie together perfectly. A few jazzy grooves, some beautiful, delicate ethereal melodies give the track a fresh spin. It’s one of those that doesn’t need to pack in a heady bass, or a veritable punch, it has such floaty melodies, that it’ll get the party started, without a doubt.

It’s such a breath of fresh air to listen to some simple, and harmonious Balearic melodies that still have a lovely groove to it. Vince Watson has certainly fulfilled the brief of blending in percussions with melodies, without compromising one or the other. For something a little lighter and more melodic, buy yourself this sweet little release, you won’t be disappointed!
